Achieved corporate sustainability goals

Through FY19, Amtrak achieved all four corporate sustainability goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, diesel fuel and electricity use, and increased recycling.

75 new locomotives were selected with sustainability as an important criterion, designed to be 10% more fuel efficient than the locomotives they replace.
