What do our labels mean?

ALWRLD is a Los Angeles-based apparel brand that places sustainability at the centre of its product and material choices. It assigns a Clean Score to each item based on the share of recycled, upcycled, natural, or biodegradable materials used in the fabric, and reports overall collection scores in the low-to-high 80s, with some pieces reaching 100%. The brand says it is working toward all products being made from 100% clean materials. Its material palette includes recycled polyester, recycled nylon, SeaCell LT, wool, organic cotton, and biodegradable nylon, and it uses the Higg Material Sustainability Index to assess fabric impacts.

Assigned Clean Scores

We assign a clean score to every item we create. It's a simple calculation achieved by adding the percent of recycled, up-cycled, natural, or biodegradable materials in the fabric. Our overall clean score for the Summer 2026 collection is 87%. While some pieces already have a 100% clean score, our goal is for all of our products to be made from 100% clean materials.

Used recycled materials

Recycled polyester is produced by taking landfill and ocean-bound PET plastic (water bottles) and breaking them down into small chips that are heated and spun into yarn. Recycled nylon is produced from items like discarded carpets and recovered fishing nets. These items are given new life by being turned into yarn, which we use to create ALWRLD products.

Used organic cotton

We believe in sourcing organic cotton that is grown using methods and materials that have a positive impact on the environment, the farmers, and surrounding communities. Organic cotton is grown without GMO seeds and toxic pesticides, which helps protect the land, farmworkers, and community water systems from poisons.

Used Higg MSI tool

At ALWRLD we use the Higg Material Sustainability Index (MSI) tool. The MSI is the most extensive tool available to measure the environmental impact of materials used in the fashion industry. It provides us a standardized method of measuring the sustainability for our fabrics. We use this third party tool to accredit the Clean Score value that we assign to each of our garments.

ALWRLD is B Corp certified. We are committed to the values that the B Corp community stand for, and are intentional in our efforts to produce garments that not only provide performance, style and comfort, but also reduce the impact on our planet and its scarce resources.
