Evaluated clean energy models

Altai Consulting has recently conducted a broad impact and performance evaluation of an open trust fund backed by multiple DFIs which provide early-stage grant and catalytic financing to innovative clean energy projects, technologies and business models in 15 countries across Southern and East Africa. The evaluation followed OECD-DAC criteria and included impact data from end-users, secondary research, key informant interviews, and quantitative primary data collection in Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Assessed Senegal's NDC progress

Altai supported Senegal’s Ministry of Environment in assessing the implementation of its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to the Paris Agreement for the 2015–2024 period. The evaluation covered mitigation and adaptation efforts across agriculture, livestock, forestry, water resources, and biodiversity, and developed a mapping of climate-related interventions over the past decade.

Reviewed biodiversity policy integration

Altai supported the IUCN and WWF-France teams in Phase 2 of the BIODEV2030 project through an in-depth analysis of the integration of biodiversity into the sectoral public policies of 15 implementing countries. Altai produced public policy and biodiversity conservation analyses, video guides, and a cross-cutting analysis report covering priority sectors of activity.

Supported inclusive education ICT

Altai Consulting was commissioned by Handicap International to identify Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) that have the potential to support inclusive education in Francophone Africa. The project identified ICT available in French that could be used in low-income settings to improve access to education of children with disabilities, and created a repository of ICT that can support children with different types of disabilities access and attend inclusive education.

Studied sustainable agriculture tools

Altai was commissioned by the Grameen Foundation USA to support the Agripath project, a research and innovation initiative aimed at improving smallholders' access to sustainable farming practices through digitally supported agricultural extension services. The research analyzed delivery models for Digital Advisory Services and contributed to a toolkit and a Scaling Framework.

Mapped climate advisory services

Altai, in consortium with AXA Climate, Acre Africa, and TALIRI, has been commissioned by the World Bank on behalf of the Global Center on Adaptation to provide technical support to strengthen digital climate-informed advisory services in Tanzania's livestock sector. Altai assignments include mapping existing digital solutions in the livestock sector and identifying gaps and opportunities to enhance digital climate adaptation.
