Launched Aje Aware ESG program

Aje says it created Aje Aware as its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) program. ESG is a way of tracking how a business affects people and the planet, not just profit. The program is built around four pillars: People, Product, Planet, and Prosperity. Aje says this framework guides its work on worker treatment, material choices, emissions, and community impact. It also says the program is meant to make the business more mindful and responsible across its operations.

Set up ESG governance

Aje says it has an internal governance system for ESG risks and responsibilities. The company says an ESG Manager handles supplier due diligence, social compliance, environmental management, and sustainability communications. It also says cross-functional teams from design, sourcing, production, merchandising, and finance help include ESG in day-to-day decisions. Aje says it has an ESG Steering Committee that meets regularly, and that key risks are reported to senior management and the Board. It also says it is strengthening this structure to match climate-related disclosure rules.

Joined the UN Global Compact

Aje says it became an official signatory of the UN Global Compact in 2022. The UN Global Compact is a voluntary business initiative linked to the United Nations, and it asks companies to support basic principles on human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption. Aje says it uses this step to align its work with the Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, which are the UN’s global goals for people and the planet. It says it focuses on SDGs 10, 12, and 15.

Measured carbon emissions

Aje says it has measured its carbon emissions and has started taking steps to reduce its footprint. Carbon emissions are gases released into the air, mainly from energy use, transport, and making products. The brand does not publish detailed emissions numbers in the material provided, but it says this work sits under its Planet pillar. It presents this as an early step rather than a finished result, and it links the work to wider environmental care.

Built supplier social checks

Aje says all manufacturing suppliers must follow its Supplier Code of Conduct and take part in a Social Compliance Program. The company says suppliers must register on SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange, a platform used to track social and environmental risk), complete a self-assessment, and provide a valid third-party ethical audit every 12 months. Aje also says it uses audit data and self-assessments to decide whether orders can be placed, and that critical issues can stop a factory from being approved until they are fixed.

Traced part of its supply chain

Aje says it has traced 100% of its Tier 1 manufacturing facilities and 66% of its Tier 2 fabric mills as of 2025. Tier 1 means the final factories that make and assemble products, while Tier 2 means fabric mills. The company says it has 50 manufacturing facilities across China, India, and Indonesia, and that it is working further back toward raw materials. This shows some supply chain visibility, but not full traceability yet.

Ran a living wage pilot

Aje says it worked with Impactt on a pilot project at its Bali studio and that the project led to wages being increased to meet living wage benchmarks. A living wage is pay that should cover basic needs like food, housing, healthcare, education, and transport. The brand says it uses methods from the Anker Research Institute and the Global Living Wage Coalition to study wage levels. It also says it has a Living Wage Working Group with more than 30 Australian brands to share knowledge and improve wage work.
