Delivered 5,000+ projects

For 15+ years, Ricardo has successfully delivered over 5,000 projects in Australia and New Zealand to over 750 clients across the public and private sectors. Today Ricardo has over 200 strategic, engineering and environmental consultants based across Australia with experience in rail and mass transit, water, climate risk, adaptation and resilience, environment and planning and waste and circular economy.

Supported Sydney Metro projects

Ricardo, in partnership with Seoul Metro (Ricardo–Seoul Metro), is performing the role of Shadow Operator on the Sydney Metro West (SMW) & Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport (SMWSA) projects. Ricardo has supplied a team of 20+ resources in the areas of railway operations, safety assurance, train operations modelling, track, structures & civils, security, depot operations, maintenance strategy & planning, station operations & customer, O&M cost planning, electrical (traction/LV/HV) and rolling stock.

Advised on water sharing

Ricardo’s team provided extensive advice to the 2019 Inspector General’s review of water sharing in the Murray system at a time of extreme public concern about the management of water in the Basin. Its input helped highlight the real issues facing the system, and the impacts of a 20-year period of unprecedented low inflows.

Supported Northern Water

Ricardo is supporting Infrastructure SA on the Northern Water project in South Australia which aims to provide a new, climate independent water source for the Far North, Upper Spencer Gulf and Eastern Eyre Peninsula regions of the state. This project is enabling the growth of industries crucial to achieving net-zero goals, including the emerging green energy and hydrogen industries.

Updated Bermuda energy plan

Ricardo collaborated with the Regulatory Authority of Bermuda to update the island’s Integrated Resource Plan, identifying that onshore solar and offshore wind are the most cost-effective energy options despite local challenges. Their modelling suggests that increasing renewable energy penetration to nearly 50% by 2050, along with 30 MW of new battery storage, offers the most affordable and reliable decarbonisation pathway for the island.
