Acier Sportswear Sustainability Commitments
2025
Climate neutrality in own operations
adidas says it aims to achieve climate neutrality in its own operations by 2025. Climate neutrality means balancing out the greenhouse gases a company produces so its net impact is zero. The company says this target covers Scope 1 and 2 emissions, which are direct emissions and emissions from purchased energy. It says the target was approved by SBTi, which checks whether climate goals are science-based.
2025
Nine in ten articles sustainable
adidas says it wants 9 out of 10 articles to be sustainable by 2025. In its report, sustainable means the products are made to a significant degree with environmentally preferred materials. This is a product mix target, so it is about how much of the range meets that definition rather than a single product claim. The company says this target is subject to reasonable assurance, meaning an outside auditor checked the numbers.
2030
Cut value chain emissions
adidas says it plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across its full value chain by 30% by 2030, using 2017 as the baseline. The value chain includes raw material production, manufacturing, transport, and its own operations. The company says this target was approved by SBTi. It also says it wants a deforestation-free leather supply chain by 2030, which means leather should not come from land cleared of forests.
2050
Climate neutrality across value chain
adidas says it aims to reach climate neutrality across its entire value chain by 2050. This is a long-term goal that covers emissions from raw materials all the way to its own operations. The company says it is working with suppliers and partners to scale lower-carbon materials, recycling technologies, and circular business practices to help reach that target.
