What do our labels mean?

1st for EPA, now known as 1st for Awarding, is an Ofqual-recognised assessment organisation that provides apprenticeship assessment and EPA across data, digital, business, professional and creative standards. Its sustainability-related content is limited, but it does assess the Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Practitioner standard, which is described as helping to drive and embed social and environmental change within an organisation. Assesses sustainability practitioners

Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Practitioner EPA Level 4. A Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (CR&S) Practitioner helps drive and embed social and environmental change within an organisation by delivering and supporting initiatives aligned with the company’s CR&S strategy. They work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to implement impactful projects, promote ethical practices, and ensure sustainability is integrated into everyday business operations.

Changed company name

In line with these changes and to ensure we’re best positioned for our growth plans, we have taken the decision to change the company name. Over the next few weeks, 1st for EPA will become known as 1st for Awarding. The company name change reflects the changes in the sector and cements who we are as an awarding organisation.

Provides remote assessment

Method Remote. EPA is usually carried out remotely, with video calling. This allows flexible booking for apprentices throughout England.

Stores assessments securely

All assessments are recorded and securely stored for quality assurance purposes. This is a mandatory requirement, and the apprentice is asked to confirm that this is acceptable. If there are any issues with this, the assessment will not be able to go ahead. All evidence will be stored securely in accordance with Data Protection legislation and ESFA guidelines.

Network Engineer plan release

The new Network Engineer Assessment Plan has been released. This assessment will be available for registrations with start dates from 2nd November 2026. We're in the process of developing our assessment strategy, support materials and resources, and will keep you up to date with our progress.
