SSAB Sustainability Actions

Secured green financing

SSAB has secured EUR 2.3 billion of green financing for the transformation project to build a state-of-the-art fossil-free mini-mill in Luleå, Sweden.

Fossil-free steel development

SSAB aims to be the first to offer fossil-free steel on the market and largely eliminate fossil CO2 emissions from its own operations.

SSAB Zero product launch

SSAB Zero is made of recycled steel in a steelmaking process powered by carbon-free electricity and biogas, minimizing its carbon footprint.

Net-zero greenhouse gas emissions

SSAB's validated long-term target is to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions for Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 by 2045. This target has been approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative.
